COLOSURE™ (STOOL DNA TESTING)

Insurance Coverage: Colon Cancer Screening

As with most recommended screening procedures, many insurance policies will provide coverage for the ColoSure™ stool DNA test. Whether the cost is covered, and how much of the cost is covered, depends on your individual insurance policy.

How to Seek Reimbursement

When you order ColoSure, we provide an invoice and receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is important to also tell your insurer the purpose of this procedure (colorectal cancer screening) and the CPT codes ((83891 (x1); 83894 (x2); 83898 (x2); 83907 (x1); 83912 (x1)).

How Insurance Works

Many insurance policies offer full or partial coverage for colorectal cancer screening procedures. Many policies also cover certain DNA-based laboratory procedures. Because ColoSure™ is a relatively new screening option, some insurance plans have not yet determined their coverage for it. They usually make this decision on a case-by-case basis. This is why it is important to supply both your reason for testing and the CPT codes when you seek reimbursement.

If reimbursement is important, you can request pre-authorization from your insurance company before ordering the test.

Health Savings Accounts

People with health savings accounts may use HSA funds for the ColoSure™ stool DNA test. DNA Direct can provide you with a receipt that you can submit for reimbursement from your health savings account.
