COLOSURE™ (STOOL DNA TESTING)

Comparing Colon Cancer Screening Options

Everyone over age 50, anyone with a personal or family history of colorectal cancer or polyps, and anyone with an inflammatory bowel disease should participate in an ongoing screening program as recommended by the American Cancer Society.

How do you decide which screening method is right for you? Colonoscopy is the "gold standard" for screening, because it allows the medical specialist performing the procedure to look directly at the colon and rectum. However, the "best" method is the one that you will use.

To learn more about individual screening methods and their guidelines, the American Cancer Society has a guide: Can Colorectal Polyps and Cancer Be Found Early? Because the ColoSure stool DNA test is a newer test, the American Cancer Society is reviewing the research to decide on a schedule for how often it should be used.
