DNA Direct has set a new industry standard and has demonstrated how to responsibly provide medical genetic counseling and testing services using web-enabled genetic expertise coupled with phone support by genetic experts. We are seeking a forward-thinking, experienced genetic counselor to help serve our growing customer base and to join our dedicated and cutting edge team.
The responsibilities of this onsite position include, but are not limited to:
- Managing the day to day clinical operations which includes, but is not limited to:
- Running a team of employee and contract genetic counselors
- Coordinating phone and online counseling services, lab support, payer interactions, and managing healthcare provider referrals
- Creating, implementing and maintaining operational protocols,
- Creating and updating content for clinical services and products
- Public speaking for academic, professional, and consumer groups,
- Participating as needed for business development/marketing strategy
- Responding to media interviews as requested.
Requirements: BC genetic counselor with an innovative attitude and willing to commit to a team of people on the cutting edge working to make a difference. Minimum of 5 years experience required. Experience in both clinical and industry (lab or other company) preferred but not required.

Director of Marketing and Communications
DNA Direct, Inc. is a rapidly growing venture-backed medical genetics company. We are seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications who is capable of managing multiple aspects of marketing – including positioning strategy, awareness tactics, and public relations. The ideal candidate for this position will be a dynamic team player ready to develop, manage and grow our company’s marketing strategy as a member of our management team. This position reports directly to the CEO.

Key responsibilities:
- Work with the CEO and other team members to develop and manage a brand strategy (including web, print, etc).
- Develop a marketing strategy that includes company positioning, market differentiation, customer analysis and related product positioning.
- Based on the established strategic framework, lead the execution of marketing activities, including advertising, public relations, collateral development and product launches. Assemble a network of vendors and consultants to assist with execution as appropriate. Develop and manage budget for marketing activities.
- Create processes and implement appropriate methods for measuring the success of marketing activities, including web metrics analysis, ongoing market research, and tactical effectiveness studies.
- Monitor industry trends, and collaborate with team to determine implications for the company. Continue to develop the appropriate positioning, product and marketing strategies based on industry trends.
- Prepare recommendations for website enhancements based on analysis of web analytics.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 10-15 years marketing/communications/branding experience.
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage effective marketing programs.
- Expertise in public relations and internet marketing.
- Expertise/knowledge of the healthcare industry
- Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and tactical levels.
- Experience successfully managing vendor/agency relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical capabilities.
- Ability to thrive in a high-growth by managing multiple priorities, optimizing limited resources, and adapting quickly to shifting industry dynamics.
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
- Proficient with MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Senior Software Developer
Position Title: Senior Software Developer
Start Date: Immediate
We are looking for a senior software engineer to join our team. This senior position is for an experienced Java developer with 6-8 years of experience. You will be the technical owner of significant components of the system.
This is a very hands-on coding position. As part of a growing company you should expect software engineering tasks of varied difficulty levels. You must have excellent communication skills, and enjoy the variety that comes from working as a key member of a team of developers.
Responsibilities will include:
- Design, code and optimize new and previously built software infrastructure
- Quality assurance responsibilities, including use-case scenarios and automating software testing
- Establish software engineering best practices
- Optimiz current software applications, and establish development guidelines to consistently deliver quality software
- Participate in software architecture planning
- Create detailed class design according to specifications, diagram and document this design
- Develop and implement software applications
- Write automated testing cases during software development
Skill set: Java / J2EE, JSP, MySQL, Unix, Apache, Tomcat, JUnit, UML
- Minimum 5 years of software development experience, the majority of it working on enterprise-scale Java/J2EE applications
- Expert understanding of application servers, multi-tier architectures, and all layers from presentation to persistence
- Hands-on development experience with J2EE components such as EJBs and web services.
- Extremely strong core Java coding skills, including an understanding of optimization, performance ramifications of coding decisions, and object-oriented design
- Strong experience with SQL databases, such as MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, including schema design and optimization strategies
- Confident user (or even better, semi-experienced admin) of Unix/Linux systems
- Understanding of system architecture and design including clustering, scalability, monitoring
- Strong experience with unit testing frameworks and libraries, such as JUnit
- Tomcat, Apache
- UML experience
- JUnit
- Experience working with (and even better, administering) versioning software such as CVS and Subversion.
